Lebo’s Footwear was found in 1954 in Columbus, Ohio by Milton Lebovitz. Initially, the store focused on repair and alterations of shoes for women. In 1979, the company began expanding into footwear for men and had expanded to 200 stores by 1980 when it filed for bankruptcy protection. The company was purchase by William Hillebrand who refocused the stores from women’s clothing and accessories to footwear.
